A top Russian official suspected of taking 10 million rubles in cash (over $300000) as a bribe threw the cash out of his car when police tried to chase and detain him. He decided to get rid of the evidence after crashing his car in the busy traffic. Police operatives were gathering the bills from the busy street until late at night. Bypassers scrambled to get in on the cash free-for-all – by the time police arrived, some 55000 roubles had already vanished. The official, working for the Russian Federal Fishing Agency, reportedly took the bribe from a commercial company engaged in fishing in the Moscow Region.
